Handout 31
Santa Claus is an authority figure; as far as I’, concerned. Just like when someone mentions the police people shape up and obey. When an adult says,”you better be good or Santa will bring you a lump of coal in your stocking.” The child ceases his/her actions and does what they feel is the right thing to do; what Santa would approve of. The gifts play the role of reward for being a good kid. So although its bribery, it teaches the child to do right.
Handout 32
This publishing is similar to Handout 31 because they are explaining how rewarding a child will benefit them if you set the standards for the reward. They both use Santa as an example of something the kids can be rewarded by. On the other hand, Handout 32 goes into more detail about boys toys and girls toys. Also the alarm clock was a good example to be used as a tool and reward. It can be given as a gift but also it can teach the child to wake up on their own.

Life Line
September 8, 2008
This is going to sound like a cliche but my friends are truly my life lines. When the boyfriend is giving me trouble or my family problems start getting to me they always know what to do. They are my angels in my time of prayer and my Dr. Phils in my time of advisory need.
He didn’t call me back! He said he doesn’t want to hang out! He left without saying, “I love you…”. These are the words that my life lines know very well. When i meet a bump in the road or find a hole to fall in, they are always there to pick me up and dust me off. They give me the slap of reality every once and awhile which is needed for occasions such as this; his phone died, he just needs his space, and I’m sure he loves you…”. These are the follow-ups to one of my simple freak out sessions over my boyfriend.
When they sense that I’m tense, when they smell my fear, and when they get a glimpse of a salty tear on my face, i don’t need words. They just always know. When i get lonely in my own house they keep me company. When i feel scared of my health they come red crosses bearing. When I’ve reached my breaking point they come and clean up my mess. My life lines are what keep me going. They teach me to chill out when my boyfriend doesn’t do what i want him to. They teach me to be strong and fight for myself. I wouldn’t be this far in my life without the wisdom my life lines gave to me.

What is Critical Thinking?
September 7, 2008
In the dictionary critical thinking is defined as:
| the mental process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information to reach an answer or conclusion. |
What i get out of that is the ability to take what you are given, digest it, and spit up the comprehension in a way that someone else can understand it. For example, when a teacher is trying to explain how to evaluate a function using the pythagorean theorem, my jaw drops and i proceed to sit there with a deer in the head-lights look. But then i turn to my friend, whom of which is a fabulous critical thinker, and she explains the equation in a form that i can better understand and learn from.
Then on the opposite end of that, an example of a terribel critical thinker would be me. When i am given directions to go somewhere my critical thinking skills go out the window and every oncoming sign is the exit i’m supposed to take and every road looks firmiliar. I really need to work on that. SERIOUSLY!

Walking in through the doors of Fife High School with butterflies in my stomach and eyes eager to learn I started my journey of my high school career. People were like giants walking and talking around me with knowledge that i was someday to have. The hormones were stifling through the air at super high speeds hitting any vulnerable soul willing to get in its way.
As the year past romance had struck me in the form of a senior boy. Now i was not only learning educationally but now i was learning more about life and love. When i stood there for his senior graduation that year i had realized that i had survived my first year in high school and was soon to be standing where he was.
The next year was pure studying and putting my nose to the grind stone. The classes were getting harder and constantly being intereupted by pointless high school dramas. Judging and back stabbing was the “in” thing, becuase if you werent doing it, someone was doing it to you.
This year i walked in the doors with a slight anziety and stress of the day i’ve been dreading and waiting for all my life, high school graduation. But the pressure of taking standerdized tests, having to apply to colleges, and getting accpeted to the college i want will slowly start to put more and more weight on my shoulders. My senior year is my last year in high school and i plan to do anything and everything i can to enjoy every last minute of it.
